Holiday Resort Lombok is our pick for families who want the ease of a full resort, with enough going on to keep younger children entertained while older kids can make the most of the pool, beach and wider resort grounds.
Set directly on the beachfront in Mangsit, just north of Senggigi, the resort has been welcoming families for decades and it shows in the way the property is set up. The large beachfront pool gives families an easy place to spend the day, while the Sea World Kids Club caters specifically to children aged 2 to 12, with activities ranging from arts and crafts to Indonesian language, traditional dance and other organised experiences.
What makes Holiday Resort particularly useful for families is that it doesn't rely on a single children's facility to earn the label. There is space to spread out, direct access to the beach, family-friendly dining and enough activities around the resort to make slower days easy. That can be especially valuable with younger children, when constantly organising transport and day trips quickly becomes exhausting.

There is an important distinction when booking Sempiak with younger children. The resort itself recommends its Holiday Houses rather than the hillside Scenic Villas for families with children under 12 because of the steep terrain, steps and unfenced pools around the hillside accommodation. More importantly for this guide, it offers the kind of stay where the experience comes from being somewhere different together, rather than from a long list of hotel facilities.
For families who have already spent several days by the coast, a few nights here can completely change the rhythm of a Lombok trip.
Best for: Curious families, nature lovers and parents who want to introduce their children to rice fields, waterfalls and everyday village life beyond Lombok's beaches.
Best Island Family Escape: Lasai Villas, Gili Air
Gili Air already makes a compelling family destination. There are no cars, days revolve around the ocean, bikes replace taxis and snorkelling can become part of the morning routine.
Lasai Villas gives families the space to enjoy that island lifestyle without squeezing everyone into separate hotel rooms.
