REGION GUIDE
Central Lombok
Cool mornings, rice terraces and an active volcano that shapes everything around it. The interior of Lombok is where the island slows down completely and lets you breathe.
Central Lombok is a different island entirely. The beaches and surf breaks of the south coast feel a world away once you climb into the foothills of Rinjani and the rice terraces begin. The air is cooler, the pace is slower, and the landscape has a quality that makes people extend their stays without quite knowing why.
Three distinct areas shape the Green Reset experience: Tetebatu on the southern slopes, where rice fields and waterfalls define the rhythm of the day; Sembalun, high in the eastern valley beneath the crater rim, where the views are almost implausibly dramatic; and Senaru to the north, where the jungle thickens and the national park begins. Each has its own character. Together they trace the full arc of what Rinjani's interior offers.

THE HEARTLAND
Tetebatu, Central Lombok

Tetebatu sits on the southern slopes of Rinjani at around 400 metres, surrounded by rice terraces that have been farmed the same way for generations. The mornings are cool and quiet. The afternoons fill with the sound of water moving through irrigation channels. The waterfalls in the surrounding area, including the twin falls at Jeruk Manis and the cascading tiers of Benang Kelambu, are among the most beautiful in all of Lombok. This is where the Green Reset begins, gently and without any urgency. A LombokStays partner property, Les Rizieres, sits in the heart of the rice fields here and has been welcoming guests who understand that the best travel is unhurried.

THE VALLEY
Sembalun, Rinjani Crater Rim

Sembalun sits in a wide, flat valley at around 1,100 metres, ringed by mountains on every side and dominated by the looming presence of Rinjani directly to the west. The air here is noticeably cooler and the light has a clarity that photographers chase from all over the world. The valley floor is farmed with garlic, strawberries and vegetables that supply much of Lombok. The trek to Rinjani's crater rim starts from Sembalun Lawang, and the town fills with climbers in the dry season. But Sembalun is also worth visiting for those with no intention of climbing, simply to stand in the valley and understand the scale of what surrounds them. Bobocabin's smart glass glamping pods, with Rinjani framed directly in the window, have made Sembalun accessible to a new generation of visitors who want the drama without the tent.

THE GATEWAY
Senaru, Rinjani National Park

Senaru sits on the northern slopes of Rinjani at the edge of the national park, where the jungle is dense, the air is thick with moisture and the waterfalls are serious. Sindang Gila and Tiu Kelep are the two most celebrated falls on the island, both accessible on foot from Senaru village and both capable of stopping you in your tracks. The Rinjani Trek Centre is here, and the northern route to the summit begins in this village. But Senaru is also where you find one of the most extraordinary views in Central Lombok: from the terrace of Rinjani Mountain Garden, you can see the ocean in the distance, the rice paddies and the summit of Rinjani all at once. That view alone, described by multiple guests as among the best they have encountered anywhere in Indonesia, is reason enough to make the journey.
